Now that's good coffee...

Drink coffee. do good. As in helping the economy of Rwanda, and giving someone the opportunity to have a better life in a struggling, yet amazing country.
The coffee is so good, the mug can't even handle it. My handle broke while trying to drink a cup. So sad...
Order some for Christmas today- www.drinkcoffeedogood.com.

Finding Forgiveness as Worship

Through conversations with other Christians, either at the radio station I am a part of, or the folks I worship and hangout with, I've discovered that forgiving someone else, (or conversely asking for forgiveness), is a tough thing for us.

I talked with someone this morning, who was completely distraught over a relationship gone sour, and Christmas was coming, and they just didn't want to face cousin "so and so" at the holidays over something that had happened years before. As I asked a question or two, it seemed that both parties had forgiven one another for whatever wrong had originally been done, but they never spoke that forgiveness to each other...

Then, I came upon a devotion by author Frederick Buechner (one of my absolute fave writers)... I'll paraphrase, but here's essentially what he said:

"When somebody you've wronged forgives you, you're spared the dull and self-diminishing throb of a guilty conscience. When you forgive somebody who's wronged you, you're spared the dismal corrosion of bitterness and wounded pride. For both parties, forgiveness means the freedom again to be at peace inside their own skins and to be glad in each others presence."

Matthew 6: 14-15:“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins."

Matthew 5: 23-24 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift."

Jesus tells us that forgiving is a part of worship, freeing you up to offer your gift without hesitation or reservation. Yet at times, we are all guilty of worshiping at the altar, while a fragment, or perhaps all of our heart rages towards another.

Question... who do you need to forgive, or ask forgiveness from... not just in your heart, but with words?

A Great Weekend

What an awesome day, this past Saturday at Lake Forest Church, in Huntersville... We joined about 60 students and adult leaders for the Vivid Worship Conference- An incredible day of Bible study, music, and worship. We met a ton of talented young people! If you were there, we're praying that Saturday was just the beginning of something bigger that God wants to do in your life. (check out some pictures in the slideshow to the right!)

If you made it to the conference, what was your favorite part? What new things about worship did you learn? What are you gonna do with what you learned?

Leave us your comments- We'd love to hear from you!!

WOW!

WOW! Working on scheduling next conference. Thank You to the worship team and all the behind the scenes folks.

Resurrected...

Who we are: Vivid Resources, a ministry devoted to developing next generation worship leaders.

Who we're for: Student musicians, singers, and creative types that want to use their gifts to honor God.

Whats different about us: Vivid is made up primarily of students, late high school and college-age young men and women who are passionate about music, worship, and are willing to invest themselves in younger students.

What we do: 3 distinct ministry initiatives:
  • Vivid Student Worship Conference: A day of in-depth Bible Study, hands-on music training, and team building for any student musician or singer, regardless of talent or experience.
  • Worship Team Training Weekends: An in-depth weekend with your students about worship, and building a student worship ministry from the ground up.
  • 100:2 Music Mission Team: A group of talented students that lead worship experiences during a 2 week long tour during the summer. Joining the 100.2 team is by audition/application only.

In each of these ministry opportunities, the Vivid Worship Team (comprised of all students) leads worship and handles some of the training responsibilities.

Why we do what we do: Simple. God's called us to this. Churches are full of young people who love music, and would like to use that gift to honor God, but lack direction on just how to make that happen, and how to potentially use their talents to honor Him through their life's work. That's what Vivid is all about.
